Gary William Schwedler, 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday March 23rd, 2020. Gary was born January 2nd, 1945 to Edgar and Louise (Christie) Schwedler in Detroit, MI. Gary served... see moreGary William Schwedler, 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday March 23rd, 2020. Gary was born January 2nd, 1945 to Edgar and Louise (Christie) Schwedler in Detroit, MI. He was the eldest of 4 children, with a younger brother, Kirk, and 2 younger sisters, Pamela and Kimberly Ann. Gary served his country in the Vietnam War from 1966-1968. After the war, Gary made his career in the construction business. He went through an apprenticeship program to become a carpenter and moved up to foreman and eventually superintendent. One of his proudest career accomplishments was leading the 1986-1987 restoration of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright - Meyer May House in Grand Rapids. The house has since been placed on Michigan’s list of historic sites. Throughout his life, Gary loved spending summer weekends fishing or having a good time on his boat in Grand Haven, MI or at his parent’s house in Houghton Lake, MI. Gary had been living in Six Lakes, MI for the past 13 years with his long-time companion Pamela Curtis. They enjoyed occasional trips to the casino, and looking for hidden gems at the local flea market. Gary is survived by his sons, Andrew (Keller, TX) and Michael (Theresa, NY) and his sister Pamela Rogers (Naples, FL). In addition, Gary was loved by numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Gary is preceded in death by his mother and father, Edgar and Louise, and siblings Kirk and Kimberly Ann.
