Gary Neil Prigge died unexpectedly on August 26, 2020 in Minneapolis, MN at the age of 71.
Gary was born on September 28, 1948 in Faribault, MN. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1966. He married Patricia McShane in 1969 (later divorced in 1983) and served in the United States Army from 1969-1971. Gary would then attend Brown Institute and earn a degree in electronics. He began work in Fort Dodge, Iowa at KVFD-TV, and then at WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1976, Gary moved to Minneapolis where he spent the bulk of his career, working at KMSP/Fox 9 as a technical director. He married Kathleen Walicke in 2002. The couple resided in St. Paul. Gary enjoyed sports, dogs, bowling, and music—especially guitars. He also had a special affinity for Jaguar automobiles. Upon retirement, he enjoyed volunteering his time at various thrift shops, such as Salvation Army and Joseph’s Coat.
Gary is survived by his four children: Chad Prigge, Watertown, WI; Ryan (Erin) Prigge, Rochester, MN; Shanna (Phil) Gons, Bellingham, WA; and Robyn Prigge, Peoria, AZ. Gary is also survived by his two step-children, Dan (Missy) Walicke and Ryan (Minnie) Walicke. Also surviving Gary are 12 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Verna (Bohmbach) Prigge; his brother, David Prigge; his wife, Kathleen Walicke; and his daughter-in-law, Sara (Shrauner) Prigge.
Gary will be missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and significant other—Letricia Cunningham. In light of the current pandemic, a private memorial service is planned for spring 2021.
