Evelyn Iona Thompson was born September 7, 1926 to Charles Boyce, and Ethel Austin- Boyce in Brooklyn, N.Y.She was educated in NYC and graduated from George Washington H.S. After graduating she met, fell in love, and married Addison Thompson on May 2, 1943. From this union 3 children Cheryl, Denise, and Edwin were born.
Evelyn was a caring homemaker for many years, raising not only her own children, but other family members as well. Later on in life she worked at Lincoln Graphic Art as a mail handler, and sorter until her retirement.
She loved to travel and shop, and particularly enjoyed hosting dinners, and get togethers for family and friends throughout the years. Her doors were always opened to give advice, and she will undoubtedly be remembered for her generous nature as she would often go out of her way to help anyone in anyway she could without blinking an eye.
Before her illness limited her love for traveling, and entertaining, she was an active spirited woman who lived her life to the fullest.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be duly missed by all.
The sun set for Evelyn on Monday, September 2, 2019 at the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation in New Hyde Park, NY.
She was proceeded in death by her mother Ethel, father Charles, ex-husband Addison, life long partner Harvey Moyler, children Denise and Edwin, brothers Emanuel Griffith and Fareed Muhammad, and sister Lenora Lattimore, Rita Hodge, and Dorothy Boyce.
Evelyn leaves to cherish fond memories her daughter Cheryl Thompson of Hollis, NY, grandchildren Carl Hendrickson of Brooklyn, NY and Burt McClerklin of Seattle Washington, great-grandchildren Jason Houston of Charleston, NC and Quentin McClerklin of Seattle Washington, sister Susan Simms of New York, NY, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
