Eugen "Gene" Gabriel Amulek Frenzel, 71, returned to his heavenly home on April 1st, 2019 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Eugen was born to the late Hans Albert and Frieda Babbette just outside Nuremburg, Germany shortly following the end of World War II. He was baptized in the Mormon faith that would be his lifelong support from an early age.
Eugen came to America in 1964 on a ship from Europe. He brought with him a station wagon, his drums and $300 dollars when he arrived. He learned English by watching the news and on the various jobs he had including detailing cars. He traveled the United States and settled in Hollywood where he could indulge in his interest in music and even knew Jim Morrison. He eventually graduated from LA City College earning his AA in Computer Science and accepted a position at Prudential working in the computer room. From there he worked his way up to be a Senior Programming Analyst.
Eugen was blessed with a large and loving family. He was married to Jane Allison Wolcott on September 14th, 1985. Together, they moved to Moorpark where they had five children. Since he held the priesthood, he performed both the blessings and baptisms for all of his children.
He chose to be a homemaker and helped raise his children with patience, creativity, discipline and humility. He taught them to read, write and solve complex problems, and often took them on long family camping trips to see the natural beauty of the state of California. He chose to be homemaker and father at heart, who always wanted the greatest things in life for his children. He was kind and soft-spoken, with an unwavering sense of humor. He always made time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small.
Eugen and Jane parted ways in 2007. Following the divorce he chose to re-invest his time and energy in faith and in the community. In 2018, he was given a diagnosis of cancer and faced it bravely.
He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator. Eugen is survived by his brother; Zenos, his ex-wife, Jane, his daughter Kara, his sons Brandon, Tyler and Justin. He is preceded in death by his his parents; brothers; Ariel, Peter; his sister Aznath, and his son Christian.
Eugen will be memorialized at 12:00PM, May 23rd at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 6100 Doubletree Rd, Oak Park, CA 91377 with a lunch reception to follow. His remains will be interred at the Oakview Memorial and Cemetery in Chatsworth, CA. Bishop Spencer Mackay will officiate the service.
