OBITUARY
Edwin loved to help people feel good. He loved being a EMT and a paramedic working for Solano Ambulance and then for the cities of Oakland and San Francisco as a paramedic. He got a real joy knowing he was helping people in their time of need. Ed was good for the stories. He got a real joy knowing he was helping people in their time of need. Ed was good for the stories. One of the first one he had just started working for Solano Ambulance and they were responding to an accident on the 680 and 780 interchange. He said he went to work on one of the victims and the paramedic asked him what he was doing and when Ed said that he was helping the victim he told Ed why? She is dead? Ed was a little embarrassed but he tended to the next victim that was alive and you could feel the sign of accomplishment written on his face and the pride expressed on his voice. In 1989 he was one of the members who was helping with the Loma Perata collapse from the earthquake. He also was a veteran of the military. Ed served in thearine Corp, the Army National Guard, the regular Army, and the Air National Guard. He traveled the world going to many different cultures and seeing how people around the world lived. Edwin loved to sky dive, cross country ski, white water rafting, and bicycling. He joins his mother Clementine Rayford, his sisters Cynthia Rayford and Phyllis Sweet, and his nephew Tyler Allen in heaven. Ed is survived by his dad Edwin Howard Rayford Sr., his sisters Tonya Allen and Sharon Wheeler, and his brother Michael Rayford as well as his nieces Chelsea Lopez, Gabriella Allen, Shea Oliveres, and Jessica Wheeler and his nephews Zachary Sweet, Dylan Sweet, Rian Sweet, Joshua Allen, Matthew Constantine, Justice and Gage as well and endless amount of family and friends that loved and cared for him very much. He will be missed by many.
I am so saddened to learn this news today! I have been searching for my friend Ed for years since he left Facebook. I met Ed in Survival School in Washington state while he was in the Army and I was in the Air Force. He helped me through the whole thing.... moreI am so saddened to learn this news today! He helped me through the whole thing. I wouldn't have graduated without him. Tremendous loss of life. - Bianca less
