Earl Willan Beddoe was born on December 17, 1948 on Victoria Street in San Fernando on the island of Trinidad and Tobago. He was born to Ivan and Lucy Beddoe and was the 11th of 12 children. Earl was Earl since he was born. His personality had not changed from day one. He was always very sweet and always very social.
Every time his parents went to look for him, he was gone. His family would have to go look for him in the neighborhood. He was always out, running off with his MANY MANY friends. Like I said he had not changed from day one.
He was known for doing things his way, no matter what others thought. When his younger sister Annie was in college, she was hosting a fundraiser and they needed a DJ. She decided to give her big brother a shot. At the event, he was only playing psychedelic type music. The audience decided to tell the DJ they wanted music they could dance to. Earl responded with very colorful language and told them if they didn't like it, they could leave. Everyone asked for their money back. Not a great fundraiser, but Earl did things his way and he was unapologetically him.
Up to his last day he was also a fighter. As you all know, Earl bravely served his country in the Vietnam War, which caused him to return home as a disabled vet. He always fought hard for what he believed in and for those he loved. From hunger strikes to sharing his home, he gave of himself to whoever needed him.
Cassandra Beddoe's experience with Earl Beddoe was unlike anyone else's. She was a young, impressionable 19 year old, and he was a smooth, suave, handsome, debonair young man who won her heart immediately. He had a way with women, as we all know. His infectious charm and good looks got him into a lot of trouble, especially with her. But nevertheless, he had a huge heart and loved everyone...until you crossed him. Then you saw the other side of Earl Beddoe.
On June 8, 1974, Earl and Cassie were married. They were blessed with a daughter, Ryba, on February 27, 1975. He loved his little girl. What he didn't realize is that a lot of his personality, including his independence and strong willed nature would be passed down to her. You know what your parents always say, "You're going to have a child who is just like you." As an adult, she didn't like being told what to do either. Guess what, Earl finally found his match.
On February 13, 1995, he was blessed with another beautiful young lady in his life, his first grandchild, Ciara. And yet again, he met his match. He was blessed again with another grandchild, a grandson named DeVante on July 24, 2001. He loved being a grandfather. When Earl met Kirsten and her 2 children, his heart grew. He loved Ingrid and Ian like his own kids and loved their children, Leanna, Leon and Zoe like his own grandchildren. His family was growing. And we can't forget his dog, Patches. She held a spot in his heart that no one expected. Thanks to his niece, Chantale, we were able to keep her in the family.
February 8, 2022 is a day that changed for all of our lives. A very bright light in this world is now gone. Anyone who knew him will understand these adjectives. Rebellious, stubborn, tenacious, candid, funny, and a true jokester. You can be sure to get a call from Earl with a good joke. He is lvoed by so many people, young and old. He leave behind a wife, Cassandra, daughters Ryba and Ingrid, son Ian, brother Evans, sisters Angela, Annette, Merlene, Carmen, Beulah and Ann Marie, and tons of loving family and friends. He will be missed very much. Earl, this is a celebration of your life. Rest in peace!
