Dorothy Brady, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2020 after contracting covid-19.

Dottie, or "Big Dot," as she was fondly known, was born on October 4, 1925 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late John and Bella Yatsko.  She was one of seven siblings.

Dottie married Robert Brady of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and their marriage lasted over 67 years.  During their years together, they moved to Livingston, New Jersey, and raised three sons:  Robert Jr. (Bob), Gary, and Ronald (Red).  In 1974, they relocated to their farm in Bedminster, New Jersey, where they resided until old age and enjoyed raising a stable of race horses.

The couple's largest enterprise was their restuarant business, beginning with Roberto's; then Chateau Roberto; and finally The Lamplighter in Chester, New Jersey.  "Big Dot" was a fixture at the Lamplighter, warmly greeting customers as hostess and strictly managing staff in a way only she could.  

Dottie loved traveling, cooking, cleaning, gardening, talking on the phone with her sisters, and attending mass, but her biggest joy of all was her family.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren more than anything, whether it be on family vacations or days spent at the family beach house in Point Pleasant.  "Gram" was firm but generous to all and loved hosting family dinners, holiday gatherings, and uniting with treasured extended family members whenever possible.  She especially enjoyed fourth of July parties which were, for many years, annual family reunions.  She was a hostess at heart and a mother/grandmother to many.  

Dottie is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sr.; brothers, John and Ted Yatsko; and sisters, Marie Gentilesco, Irene Jacobsky, Rita Kohn, and Claire Haydu.

A true matriarch, she leaves behind a large and loving family:  sons Robert Jr. and wife Lori, Gary and wife Joanne, and Ronald and wife Janet; grandchildren Lisa, Alexis, Tara, Gary, Tom, Colleen, Kelly, Ashley, and Jesse; and great-grandchildren Ashlyn, Devon, Harrison, Michael, Tyler, Jack, Payton, Colton, Oliver, Keira, and Gareth; and many nieces and nephews.

The family welcomes all stories, photos, and memories that Dottie's family and friends would like to share.  Information on a memorial gathering (when possible) will be shared when available.
