Delia Galvan Fernandez, also known as “De”, was 70 years young. She was born on October 4, 1951 to Joe and Jovita Fernandez in Stockton, CA and fell asleep in death on January 11, 2022.
De was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Jovita, and by siblings Caroline Sandoval, Fernando Fernandez, Arthur Fernandez, and Edward Fernandez. She is survived by siblings Sally Garcia, Linda Ferguson, Richard Fernandez, Bernard Fernandez, Daniel Fernandez, Rachel Rodriguez, and Ester Fernandez, and by many many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After she graduated from Amos Alonzo Stagg High, she got her very first job working part time in 1970 at Fair Oaks Branch Library for the City of Stockton, and eventually worked at Cesar Chavez Central Library as a Library Aid in Tech Services. She actually worked for the library a total of 38 years, until her retirement in 2008.
De was a very loving, caring and giving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She truly had a special relationship with every single one of them, especially when it came down to her nieces and nephews. De absolutely loved to spend time with her family and take them on trips to one of her favorite places, Disneyland.
De had a very friendly, fun, and outgoing personality that captured the hearts of many. She always had a smile on her face and was almost never unhappy. She loved to joke and make people laugh. De’s favorite color was purple, her favorite flower was the magnolia, one of her favorite things to eat was fried chicken, and of course one of the most memorable, her favorite saying was "LYMI" which means love you mean it!
De was raised as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized in 1969.
De proved her love and faith for Jehovah right until her last breath giving a witness to a few of the nurses in the nursing facility where she resided, asking one of them to hold her hand while she prayed to Jehovah because she wasn’t feeling well. She then asked the nurse to pray for her, in turn the nurse told her sister Ester, “I prayed to her God Jehovah for her and asked Jehovah to keep her calm.” De definitely gave a fine witness!
De was truly loved by many and has left us all with beautiful memories . And although she will be missed, we can all have the hope to see her again in a beautiful paradise. Until we meet again.
Revelation 21:4 - “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
