David William Henry Weiland, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. 

He was the epitome of selflessness and enthusiasm. His sharp wit and endearing smile made him the center of any room he was in. You couldn’t help but fall instantly in love with him. 

He was known for giving strangers the day off with double pay, awarding sections of a Gold Star (You had to do something REALLY spectacular to get a whole gold star) and for seeing the needs of others and quietly, behind the scenes, serving his fellowmen. 

Born August 9, 1932 in Portland, Oregon to David William Weiland and Valerie Agnes Culross Weiland. He was always a hard worker. He never stopped learning or teaching. 

He was an entrepreneur, an Eagle Scout, a 32nd degree Mason and a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force serving for 27 years as a pilot. He had a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Willamette University and was a Bishop for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 

Of all his vast accomplishments his favorite was that of husband, father and grandfather. 

He is survived by his sweetheart of 62 years, Frances Lee Lowe Weiland; His four sons, Timothy David Weiland (Amy) of Las Vegas; Peter Bradley Weiland (Edith) of Salt Lake City; John Michael Weiland (Sarah) of St. George and Thomas Jeffrey Weiland (NanC) of Seattle. As well as 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
