In loving memory of our father David Soto Arechiga

David Soto Arechiga, age 75, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 in San Jose, California. He was born on April 10, 1945 in San Jose to parents Manuel Pelayo Arechiga (1913-1982) and Mary Soto Arechiga (1920-2014). He joins his beloved parents, siblings (Gloria, Manuel, John, and Ruben), and son Anthony in eternal rest. David is survived by his ex-wife Mary, their children (David, Julie, and Michelle), and grandchildren (Mikahla, Davina, Sebastian, and Stefan), along with his siblings (Josie, Carmen, Terry, Richard, Annie, and Robert) and numerous family members.

David spent most of his life in Santa Clara County. He graduated from William C. Overfelt High School in 1963, then married his sweetheart Mary Helen Arechiga on September 27, 1965. David provided a good home for his wife and three children in the East Foothills of San Jose, where they lived for 25 years. To provide for his family, he worked as a builder and independent contractor, then as a mail carrier for the US Postal Office, and in later years as a truck driver. He was an intelligent man with a love of philosophy, music, and learning, which he shared with his children. He loved building things and had hoped to be an engineer or architect but did not have the opportunity to pursue his dreams. His compassion showed in his love of animals and helping people in need. He filled his home with pets, sharing a lifelong love of animals with his family. He found peace in nature and religion and loved running and riding his bicycle. In spite of all this, he was afflicted with alcoholism and had difficulty maintaining close relationships with his family. Although he was estranged from family in his final years, we will always remember his love and the many sacrifices he made for his family

Our father will be remembered as a loving father and provider, who valued family and friends and took pride in the accomplishments of his children.
