OBITUARY
David Stephen Simanton passed away on August 7th in Bend, OR. David was born in Spokane, WA in 1955 to William Gordon Simanton and Marcia Lavonne Stevenson. David grew up in Pasco, WA and attended the University of Arizona and then Washington State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1980. Dave began his career with Boise Cascade and also worked for Gaylord Container and JB Boswell as a controller.... see moreDavid Stephen Simanton passed away on August 7th in Bend, OR. David grew up in Pasco, WA and attended the University of Arizona and then Washington State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1980. Dave began his career with Boise Cascade and also worked for Gaylord Container and JB Boswell as a controller. He became VP of Finance at Food Services of America in Portland and retired in 2017. Dave has been a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego, OR. He has been a member at Oswego Lake Country Club, Willamette Valley Country Club and Awbrey Glen Golf Club. Dave was an avid golfer and he played college golf at the University of Arizona for two years. Dave was also an enthusiastic Washington State Cougar fan and owned season tickets for twenty years. He has been to two Rose Bowls, the Sun Bowl, The Holiday Bowl, The New Mexico Bowl and the Copper Bowl. Dave is survived by his wife, Julie Sue Dodds, and their two children, Amy Elizabeth Simanton and Stefan Travers Simanton. In addition, Dave has 4 siblings, Gordon Simanton along with wife Jennifer, Marcia McNannay and husband Rick, Bruce Simanton and wife Lori, Craig Simanton and wife Karen, and brother in law Jerry Dodds and wife Jo as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A religious service will be held August 17th at Holy Communion Church in Bend at 11:30am with a Celebration of Life service following at 1 pm at Awbrey Glen Golf Club. The family requests that donations be made to Hilinski ‘s Hope. This is from a champagne tasting party a few years back, with Dave, Vic and Gary. I’m reminded of how Dave made me laugh. A lot of good times with him and Julie. Love you guys
I think of Dave every day and often. It was so nice having him and his whole family at our house for a 4th party, and I was lucky to have a long interaction with him the next day before their drive back to Bend. Julie and family...I just became aware of this loss. I’m so incredibly sorry for you, and will keep you in my prayers. While we can’t be there for the memorial service, we will donate to the Hilinski fund in David’s name. Love and peace, cousin. 💕
