David Mersh, 51 of Terre Haute, Indiana was born on July 22, 1969 in Southfield, Michigan to Thomas and Charlene Lemke Mersh and was the youngest of four. After a long struggle with mental illness and depression, Robert went home to see the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2021.
In 1978, the Mersh family moved to Commerce, Michigan where David shared many memories with his family and friends. During his childhood, David was a member of the St. William Parish and he was very active with the church youth group where he made lifelong friends. David graduated from Walled Lake Western in 1987. He continued his education at The University of Illinois where he earned his Bachelor degree in Education, and moved to Terre Haute, Indiana to start his career as a high school Spanish/English teacher, and eventually moved on to working in training. This led him to his most recent job with State Farm, which in turn brought him to Bloomington, Indiana. He met his children’s mother, Stacey, and started a family. In 2009 he welcomed his first daughter, Emily, and in 2011 his second daughter, Stephanie. David lived and breathed for his two girls. He always said that they were his greatest accomplishments. He enjoyed music, reading, politics, traveling, boating and spending time on the lake where he grew up with family and friends. He was an avid fan for all the Big 10, but always stayed true to his Fighting Illini. David will be remembered for his love he had for his family and the laughter and joy he brought to everyone he met.
There will be a private service limited to a small group of family and friends on Friday May 7th, 11:00 am located at Cottage Hill Cemetery – 2340 Indiana 340 Brazil, IN 47834
