It has been two months and I miss you terribly. I wish that you were here to talk to the kids and tell some stories. It has been really tough, but I know you are keeping busy.

From Connie and Monte Ray
David entered our lives in 1977 as one of the Ventura Mission missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who was teaching the Gospel to our family. In July 1978, Monte and I were baptized and confirmed as members; however, our three teenage daughters were not yet ready to take that step, so the missionaries continued to teach them.
As the Elders took turn coming to teach, the one Elder we all remembered the most was the young man with āthe sparkling eyes and big smileā, Elder Abboud. The Spirit shined through his eyes! We were always happy when he came to give the lessons to our daughters.
On February 3, 1979, Jennifer accepted the Gospel into her life and was baptized by her father. With the Bishop, her father and others, she was confirmed a member of the Church. David was one of the missionaries who placed their hands upon her head; as he recorded in his Journal that day. David was then transferred and left our area of the Mission.
In 1982, as Monte and I attended our Sacrament Meeting, a cute couple came in and sat beside us. We recognized David right away. He introduced us to his pretty young sister, Donna. They had moved to the area from Utah and he was working nearby. Looking around the Chapel he noticed there were no young adults present and asked where they were. We told him of the newly formed Young Single Adult Ward that met in Thousand Oaks; so he and Donna left to go there. Jennifer recounts that on that day, as she sat in the front row of the Thousand Oaks Chapel that, āthe outside door opened and a breeze swept leaves in onto her lap; David entered and sat beside her.ā
After Sacrament Meeting was over they sat and talked for a long time and --- from that moment on--- it was the beginning of their āTogether Foreverā.
With Love,
To Our Son-in Law, David, until we meet again

He made my heart race watching him. I was always proud of him. I would always say, āThatās my brother!ā His heart is solid gold, his spirit is pure. This pic was taken after one of our kidney transplant follow up appointments. I drove him up to Park City for lunch and we spent the day around Olympic athletes practicing during the summer. He saw the bobsled and pulled me right to snap a picture. Amazing day. Amazing brother. I miss you so much. I miss your laugh. I miss the sparkle in your eyes. I Love you forever Donna less

I don't want his friends to remember David the sick guy but David the adventurous and cool guy. He was the guy who rode motorcycles, skiied, surfed, biked mountains, and even rode a street luge right off the side of a cliff. My dad was one of the first Xtreme sports dudes and I really looked up to him. He taught me everything he knew. Let me bust a couple of knuckles and get some scrapes trying new things. Some of my favorite memories are riding motorcycles with my dad. less
Words that will always remind me of my little brother Dave. Saxophone, jaw harp, kazoo, motocross bikes, VW Beetle, cartoon drawing, painting, 70's music, laughter and smiles. He will always be in my heart forever.

Playing baseball, driving go-karts, hiking the mountain, swing on grapevines, riding bikes. Davey has a pure, humble, and cheerful spirit with a keen mind. So fun to be around .... he always had a smile, even when life's challenges came. He endured well! Love you Davey. Hug my family for me. Mom, Pam, Mark and Wesley. Love and prayers to and all the Abboud's. Gratitude to Jesus Christ for his marvelous gift of eternal life. less

He intoxicates his family with joy, optimism, humor, kindness, dreams, inspirations, challenges, and grace. He loved everyone he met from the bottom of his great, big heart. He certainly lives on in each one of us, and he will never be forgotten. We have all learned how to count our many blessings, to not take advantage of our time given, to wear the red rose across our hearts, and enjoy being who we are...as long as it follows with a gigantic smile. The world loses a true angel of light and goodness, while Heaven gains a sweet father and beloved son reunion. May beautiful grace be upon all of us, and Uncle David's spirit be with us forever. May my Uncle David race the angels with solar motorcycles across our clouds forever. May he keep us strong and hopeful. And may he always know how much we all love him beyond measure. Thank you for allowing me to express this from my heart. God bless everyone. less
