Gastric Cancer Foundation grew out of one brave patient’s personal journey. When our founder, JP Gallagher, was diagnosed with gastric cancer in 2007, he was a busy 37-year old professional with a young and growing family. In fact, his wife was pregnant with their third child. His diagnosis was both shocking and frightening, and JP immediately began searching for information and hope. Both were in short supply. At the time, there was no centralized resource of information, and what was available offered little hope. JP’s difficult experience – and his recognition of a need for information and encouragement for all stomach cancer patients – became the seed of an idea that grew into the Gastric Cancer Foundation. less

She was a force to be reckoned with... she was southern and sassy and spoke her mind. She and I talked on an almost daily basis and we have been through so much together... some really wonderful times and some very difficult... but we were always there for each other. I'm heartbroken she had to leave us so soon. She was only 66, just about to retire. She still had so much life left to live. It's hard to believe three months ago she was in my hospital room, helping to take care of me after Andie was born. I'm so grateful that she could be there for that first week of Andie's life, and I'm so grateful we could be here for the last week of hers. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2017, and has fought a hard, painful battle. I'm relieved she is free from that pain now.
