We'll have a service in the church, followed by internment of my dad's ashes in the church columbarium.
For the church service, we ask that anyone attending in person be vaccinated, wear a mask, and leave some indoor space between themselves and others not in their group.

Charlie was such an exceptional person in so many ways: as an athlete, student, scholar, educator, husband and father. At our best in any one of those endeavors we fall short of Charlie’s example. But I would like instead to comment on something that permeated everything he did. Charlie was the most gracious man I have ever known. Being gracious requires a sense of selflessness, generosity few can muster. He was, as Louisa said, a lovely man. His death has caused me to reevaluate my own life and seek to improve. I was lucky to have known him. less
Charlie and I were high school classmates for four years and have been fellow residents of the Town of Chevy Chase for much longer. We were team mates playing high school hockey and crew. We were team mates playing high school hockey and crew. I valued my friendship with Charlie. I will miss him. I wish I could attend the memorial service but, with a family member's compromised immune system, we are avoiding in door events. I would be grateful to learn if a virtual option becomes available.
