So many memories , Its hard to remember just one because lately I cannot stop thinking about them all. When I was young I remember that I made up my own names for what things were called and I would also do that for people. When I was young I remember that I made up my own names for what things were called and I would also do that for people. To me my Grandmother was my Gagum she was the light in the world and visits with her were wonderful and magical. I remember how her house always smelled of cookies and flowers, It was always warm and it was always peaceful and welcoming. The outdoors was park like and full of adventure at gagums. She would take us kids for walks around the neighborhood and we'd collect rocks in the creek and feed the birds with a bag of day old bread crumbs. The walks to the park behind Lorton elementary were also adventuresome and on the way back we would stop at the shell station and get a bottle of grape nehi soda for a quarter. The kind where you pop the cap off at the machine. She knew how much I loved her peanut butter cookies just perfectly burnt on the bottom just the way she knew I loved them. My most favorite memory is the one when we would go to the thrift stores to buy books for the library room and I as a child would seperate from the others and read in her library room the one at the house in Lorton with the beautiful barrister bookcases full of all kinds of wonderful books . The room also had a table where we could craft things with nature sea shell baskets, or picture frames . I recall a large peacock tapestry full of magnificent colors in that library room. She loved being outside and in her garden . We would also sit in the back yard and I would rock in her wrought iron lawn chairs as my imagination soared. My Gagum was my inspiration and it was her that has always been whom I wanted to be most like. I love her and This world is not the same without her in it.
