Bonnie May Previte
May 4, 1945 – June 11, 2019
On Tuesday, June 11, 2019, Bonnie May Previte, loving mother, sister, and friend passed away at the age of 74. Bonnie had suffered from Alzheimer’s for the last 14 years and left behind her one and only daughter, Alyssa.
Bonnie was born on May 4, 1945 in Fairfax County, Virginia. She was the youngest of her three siblings, Patricia, Lana, and Frank. When Bonnie was 12, her mother, Annie, remarried, gaining a stepfather and two stepsisters, Gloria and Joyce, which she became very close to. She grew up during the days of American Bandstand and loved listening and dancing to music with her childhood friends. Although her early life was not easy, she made the most of it and was well known as a bubbly, fun, and loveable girl throughout junior high and high school. Sadly Patricia passed away from ovarian cancer, but her other siblings remain alive and well, along with their families.
Her ambition to learn and desire to travel brought her to San Francisco after attending school in Southern Virginia and then working in Washington DC as a legal secretary. In San Francisco, she earned a business degree at San Francisco State University and pursued a career at a legal firm. There she met her most dear friends, who would continue to be lifelong friends and family. One of them would later introduce her to her husband in Los Angeles, David Goldberg. After connecting with David, she would eventually move down to Los Angeles, continuing her career in the legal world as a Law Firm Administrator for the firm Lyon and Lyon.
In 1987, Bonnie and David gave birth to their daughter, Alyssa. Bonnie was 42 at the time Alyssa was born. After living in two homes in Los Angeles, Bonnie was inclined to move to Washington State, where a few of her friends had settled after living in LA.
Although Bonnie and David did not remain together and separated when Alyssa was a young teenager, they maintained a loving friendship and together raised their only child. In Seattle, Bonnie worked part-time as a real estate agent and stockbroker, however her most important goal was to look after Alyssa. Along with being an incredible mother, she was an avid tennis player, talented homemaker, and savvy businesswoman. She was Alyssa’s Girl Scout’s leader, PTA President, and most amazing host. She could do it all. She aimed to create a beautiful and wonderful life for her daughter, leading by example on how to be an independent woman and to go after one’s goals. In the late 1990s, Bonnie set out to accomplish building her dream home and garden, which became something she was very proud of. Now, Alyssa resides in that home, constantly being reminded of how special and talented her Mother was. She hopes to create her own family there someday and continue to live out her Mother’s legacy.
Bonnie touched everyone she met. Her bubbly personality and amazing generosity will never be lost. Her relationships with her friends and family were of utmost importance to her. She continued to remain close with all of the friends she made in life, whether in high school or as a young adult. She loved the gift of music, which continued to bring a smile to her face until her last year. While sick, she even took up dancing again, which became a central part of her life and kept her in good spirits.
She will be incredibly missed by all that knew her. After years of suffering from her disease, we are all at peace knowing she is finally in a better place and will suffer no more. Her impact on us all will never be lost or forgotten. Her spirit survives in all those she touched. Thank you for all of those who provided care for her throughout the years. We love you Bonnie May Previte.
A memorial service will be mentioned privately at a later date. If Bonnie was someone close to you, please email her daughter Alyssa Goldberg at bonnieprevite.memorial@gmail.com to be included on memorial date information.
