Billy Ray Campbell was born April 5, 1934 to Clarence in SC Campbell. He was one of 10 children Clarence (C.D Junior), Vivian, Laquata (Kate), Patsy, Monty, Christine, Ross, Susie, and Larry. He played football, basketball and also was a cheerleader for Lynch high School where he graduated from in 1952. Billy married the love of his life Barbara Joan Crowden in 1963. 86 years.... that is a long life. During that life Billy was an active member and leader in the Boy Scouts of America. He also had several successful careers, Metallurgists at Inland Steel, Large equipment mechanic for Woodruff & Sons and also Draftsman for Public Works department for Manatee County. After retiring you could find him working at the bait shop on Rod & Reel Pier on Anna Maria Island. Billy also took pride working in his orchid greenhouse.
Billy left this earth after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He has joined his wife Barbara and two sons, Billy Ray II and Walter Leroy, to watch over the family they have left. Billy’s memories will be carried on by the loved ones who remain: Daughter, Stacie Lynn Ruppel, Son, Johnathon Paul (Misty) Campbell, Daughter, Shannon Michelle (Alan) Fosmer, Son, Clarence Daniel (Karen) Campbell. Brother, Monty (Corline) Campbell, Brother, Ross (Carol) Campbell, and Sister, Susie (Scott) Todd, and many grand and great grand babies.
