Beverly Ann “Ann” Klitzner (nee Gibson), 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2022. She joined her beloved husband, Harry Klitzner, who passed away 2 years prior in August, 2020. Ann was born on November 16, 1931 in Holton, Michigan to Emmet Earl Gibson and Emma Louise (nee Trask.)
Ann Gibson grew up in a busy house in Holton with 12 brothers and sisters. She was the ninth child in the family which included Harold, Edwin “Ted”, Irene, Ernie, Doris, Agnes “Aggie”, Mary, Jean, Glenn, Alcie & Barbara.
As a child she learned to play tennis on a backyard grass court that needed to be made ready to play each summer. Tennis was a passion throughout Ann’s life and she continued to play into her 80s.
In her 20s, Ann moved to Chicago, Illinois and in 1954 she was introduced to the love of her life, Harry Klitzner. The two often double dated with their lifelong friends, Norman and Tami Inoue. Tami told Ann to marry Harry and join them in California… Ann and Harry were married in 1956 in Chicago. They drove out to Santa Barbara for their honeymoon, and to their new home near Norman and Tami.
In 1957, Harry was drafted and served two years in the United States Army at Fort Ord in Monterey, California. While in Monterey, their oldest child, Erik was born. In 1959, the family moved back down to Santa Barbara where son Kurt was born.
In 1964, the Klitzners moved to Costa Mesa, California where their youngest child, Todd, was born. Ann and Harry remained in Costa Mesa.
Ann adored life in Southern California. She enjoyed playing tennis, going to the beach, and playing golf. The couple played bridge, and rummy tiles with close friends on a regular basis. Ann loved watching the Lakers with the family and a glass of wine. Foremost to Ann was spending time with those she loved; great friends from the neighborhood, work and church, and her dear family.
After raising her three boys, which was easy if you asked her, she loved doting on her cherished grandchildren. Ann devoted her life to being a loving mother and homemaker. She was a devout Christian and was a member of Newport Harbor Lutheran and King Of Glory Lutheran Churches.
Ann Klitzner never had a bad word to say about anyone, and always found the positive side of people and situations. Her grace, love and kindness set the example we all try to emulate. She will be in our hearts forever.
Ann will be missed by her son Erik Klitzner (Kathy), of Santa Ana, CA, grandson Kyle of San Francisco, CA, granddaughter Kelly (Sean) of Costa Mesa, CA; son Kurt Klitzner (Janet), grandsons Brennan, Keaton, Kade and Drew of San Diego, CA; son Todd Klitzner (Elise), grandsons Jude, Graham and Rhys of Costa Mesa, CA, and many other cherished friends and family.
