In 2000, Barbara and Grandma Goose made the trip out to Iowa to help Elissa and I celebrate our summer birthdays. That was the year that we had a scavenger hunt all around the yard to find my birthday present. I believe that Barbara's creative energy was...  more

Going out to Oregon to visit Aunt Barbara, Bonnie, Ila Mae, and Grandma Goose were some of the most exciting adventures of childhood. In these photos we were visiting the Oregon coast June of 1993. Roasting hot dogs and celebrating my 3rd birthday.

Barbara sent me this picture many years ago in an email. I have held onto it for several reasons. This is the one time I remember her visiting Iowa and making us think she was the best aunt anyone could ever have. The mundane chores on the farm became...  more

Barbara loved having fun. Could be celebrating getting a cast off her foot, a walk with family or lining up the cooks at the family camp.

I think we can probably all agree that Barbara was the one that had us pose this way for the picture 🤣 I imagine she was the reason we were all smiling. What a classic!

Ila Mae Gillett Barbara loved to take pictures, but she was very particular about making her pictures special. She carefully chose her backgrounds and she had a special way of adding extra touches to make each picture unique.

One of my favorite memories is when I was 13 and went to live with Grandma for 6 weeks to help her with exercises after she broke her hip. So many memories were made that trip but one of my favorite is the day we drove out to the coast and Barbara &...  more

Ila Mae Gillett Barbara loved to go to the coast! She always had ways of making each visit special. She never returned home without special rocks, driftwood, and/or shells. And she used her treasures to decorate indoors and outdoors.

One of the things that Barbara did best was make the ordinary into an imagination adventure. We often cooked or baked, but if Barbara was involved, it turned into a magical, creative process. One of my favorite baking memories is when I was visiting...  more
