She was birth on February 26th, 1956 in Kansas City, KS. Barbara grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Lincoln High School. After graduating, Barbara was offered a modeling career in New York, but protectively her mother convinced her to stay close to home. Barbara worked as a nurse's aide at several nursing homes prior to starting a family. She worked nearly two decades at Transilwrap Plastics, until the company went out of business. At the time of her death, Barbara was working at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where she had worked for 16 years. Barbara was set to retire in August of this year. Barbara loved cooking and had hopes of starting a cooking business after retirement.
Barbara was a member of Linwood Temple for over 40 years. She activily served her church and community as part of the senior choir, as a member of Christian Women, and through her help with AY. Barbara also helped with church hospitality, serving food and cooking. Barbara always thought of others before herself and never cared to be the center of attention.
Barbara married her husband, Raymond Michael Mott III, on April 10th, 1980. Together they raised three sons. Wanting to protect them from the negative influences around them, she worked to send them to private school. Barbara's sons were her greatest joy, and even as adults, she spoke to them daily. Barbara's heart's desire was always for the well-being and salvation of her sons. Her passing had left a void in their lives that will not be filled until they are able to reunite with her one day.
Barbara was proceeded in death by her mother and father. Barbara is survived by her husband Raymond; her son's Raymond Mott I of Texas, Carlos (Andrea ) Mott of Texas, Marcus Mott of Georgia; her sister Gail Franklin of Georgia; her grandchildren Avie Mott and Zaniah Mott; her nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
When you think of Barbara, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Cherish the time you have with the ones you love, and never miss an opportunity to love on the people around you.
