Barbara Lemons went by many names: Barbara, Mrs. Lemons, Babs, Mom, Granny, Granny Babs, and more. She was a friend to all and truly loved and cared for everyone she met. She was a ray of sunshine in every room she entered and her outlook on life was always so positive and full of joy. She had a way of making everyone want to be the best version of themselves and made the world a better place just by being in it.
Granny loved fashion and shopping and always matched from head to toe. She even used to model in fashion shows for clothing boutiques. She loved to tell stories of all the clothes she got to wear and what kind of deal she would get on the ones she bought. Of course, everyone loved seeing her fashion show photos. She always had that one finger pointing in all her photos and as she walked the runway. It was her signature! She had a huge circle of friends and frequently joined them for tea or bridge. She loved being around people and was the epitome of a social butterfly.
Granny also loved to travel and experience all the world had to offer. She would tell everyone to take every chance they could to travel. We only have one life to live and we may as well see as much as we can while we are here. "Life is what you make it", she always said. She loved to go on fishing trips to Mexico with her friends, cruises to see other countries, and even Galveston for summer beach getaways where she would wear her silly tall bright green socks to protect her feet from the sun. She would share the best stories of all of her adventures. She even named her dog, Charlie (Bonnie Prince Charlie), after a trip to Scotland! She loved Charlie and many people that knew her remember how he used to ride around with her on the console of her beautiful black Buick Riviera.
Granny loved all sweets, especially Braums ice cream and candy. She would laugh and say "Some things are just more fun together! Chocolate and ice cream, shoes and purses, me and you." She loved taking the grandkids to the candy store in the mall and giving them $1 each. That dollar may not get you very much now, but they found a way to make it work then. They would put a little candy in their bag at a time and run up to check the scale until the total was exactly $1. She loved North Park mall and the Cafeteria restaurant inside. She loved El Fenix and their Wednesday special, Denny's on Sundays after church, and celebrating holidays with her family.
Most of all, Granny loved her family. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Mother-in-Law, Aunt, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She had the best way of making each person in her family feel like they were the most important person in the world. She had a special bond with each one of them and loved them all unconditionally. While having her own kids and grandkids was a special part of her life, becoming a great grandma was something she always hoped she would be around to see. Granny has 3 great grandchildren: Hunter, Hudson, and Keton. They have all gotten to know Granny in their own way and their lives will forever be changed because of it.
Although it is always sad when someone we love passes, hopefully everyone can find comfort in the fact she was lucky enough to live such a long and happy life. She touched so many lives and meant so much to so many people.
