Portland, OR –
Angela M. Davey
February 10, 1942 – September 4, 2020
Angela Mary Davey, beloved wife of Don Davey, daughter Carolyn Schweitzer and all who knew her, passed away peacefully at Providence Medical Center on Friday, September 4, 2020 at age 78.
Born and raised in the Bronx, New York to parents, Angela and Salvatore Cosentino, Angela graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School then started a brief career as an executive secretary for Lever Brothers in New York City. After one year, having decided she wanted to pursue a different, more rewarding path, Angela began working at the New York Foundling Hospital where she cared for newborn babies. Angela married her high school sweetheart Don in 1963 and moved from New York City to Portland, Oregon immediately after the wedding. She loved Oregon with its relaxed, slow pace and quickly found employment for a time at OHSU Hospital. Angela enjoyed raising her two children in the Laurelhurst neighborhood and was an active member of the All Saints Parish. Angela graduated from Portland State University and worked as a part-time faculty member for the Portland Community College (former) “Steps to Success” program where she taught classes such as “How Do You Solve a Problem” and “How Do You Make a Decision.” Angela was passionately involved in many support groups and made lasting connections with people wherever she went.
Angela was preceded in death by her parents, Angela and Sal Cosentino, son Christopher, sister Sally Prichard, brother-in-law, Douglas Prichard and sister-in-law, Barbara Davey.
Angela is survived by her husband Don of 57 years; daughter Carolyn (John); grandchildren William and George. She is also survived by her sisters, Carmen Yanazzo (Len), Anne Hanson (George), brother-in-law Andy Davey and sister-in-law Eileen Davey, member of the Holy Union Sisters.
Angela was a fierce and skilled lover of yoga, thrifting and estate sales, gardening, reading, Scrabble, LONG walks, and most importantly, helping everyone she encountered — whether they needed health, nutrition, or emotional support. Her guidance will be missed and treasured always.
Services at Holman's Funeral Home will be private due to Covid-19 restrictions.
