It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Amy Leigh Honikman on December 13, 2021. Her family and friends were unprepared for such a tragic loss. The youngest of three sisters, Amy was born on February 15, 1981 in Boston, MA, to Dr. Larry and Elaine Honikman. After graduating from Sharon High School in 1999, she attended the University of Massachusetts in Boston.
Amy's talent and creativity never ceased to amaze those around her. She excelled at art, especially at drawing, and keeping everyone in her orbit entertained. A fiercely loyal friend, Amy was always there when you needed her, no questions asked. A truly kind soul, she was the type of person who would give you the shirt off her back or a place to stay when you had nowhere else to go. She had many circles of friends dating back to high school and from every workplace she was employed. Amy had the rare ability to make everyone around her happy. She was always giggling; her infectious laugh will live on forever. Anyone who knew Amy was touched by her generosity, quirky sense of humor and deep love for animals. She enjoyed volunteering and spent much of her free time at Save a Dog Shelter in Sudbury.
A devoted mother to her three beautiful fur babies, her beloved dogs, Bae and Sam, and cat, Sully. Amy is survived by her mother, Elaine Honikman; her sisters, Sheryl and brother-in-law Joe Thorp, and Julie and her brother-in-law Patrick Sullivan. She is also survived by her nephews Aidan and Ethan Thorp and Jake Sullivan, and her nieces, Emma and Caroline Sullivan, all of whom she loved like her own; and by an incredible number of close friends, who are too numerous to name. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Larry Honikman. Amy, you will be missed more than words can say. This world will be a darker place without you.
The funeral will take place at 10 am on Tuesday, December 21st at Temple Sinai, 25 Canton Street, Sharon, MA followed by a graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest next to her father. A gathering of her memory will be held following burial, the details of which will be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save a Dog Shelter in Sudbury at www.saveadog.org.
