Feel free to contribute by sharing stories, memories, photos, and videos. Or send them straight to Evelyn at Forest Lawn for the DVD. Amber, or Ginger Snap as she was known to all who were close to her was born in Bakersfield, CA on August 15, 1990 to Celcila and Carlos Rodriguez. She was a happy baby girl, who followed her eldest sisters around relentlessly, dragging her slightly older brother with her. As the baby of the family then, (until the birth of carlos jr.) she was doted on, and revealed in the attention. She would refer to herself and siblings as the four musketeers. She was a fearless leader, and was not afraid to take on challenges. As she blossomed into a young lady, she began to follow in her one of her older sister's footsteps, whom she was very close with. After attaining honors in high school, she went on to graduate with a degree in teaching special education. She was a huge advocate for children with special needs. She was planning on attaining her masters and later Phd in behavioral science. She and both her sisters were very active in the special education fields, as it touched very close to home for all 3 sisters. Amber was a vivacious soul, who tried to spread love and happiness where ever she went. She moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her older sister, and younger brother. Her long time boyfriend Ricky joined her, and it was their intention to be married in the Fall. She left California to start an adventure, and write her own story. As her siblings before her had also done. She touched hearts in many places, and brought light in dark times. Amber always put family first, and tried to live life to the fullest. She was a beautiful daughter, an amazing sister, and a one of a kind genuine soul. She passed on, in a car accident in OK on May 24, 2019 with the same tenacity for and faith in life she'd been born with. She leaves behind her long time partner Ricky Patterson, her two oldest sisters Jessica Rodiguez- Merrill, and Heatherene Roriguez-Merrill, her two brothers Michael Merrill and Carlos Rodriguez behind, as well as a substantial void in this world. The family has chosen to mourn their loss privately, although there will be a celebration of life held in Enid at the home of Heatherene, and one in Los Angeles at the home of Cecila. Amber will be laid to rest in California, at Forest Lawn Memorial, next to her father, in the company of many previous generations. Her tombstone inscription will include her favorite phrase C'est la vie, so that those who love her may carry on in her name with no regrets as she would have preferred it.
