On September 12th, 2020, the community of Fairview bid farewell to its native son, Allen Ross Deskin. He is survived by the mother of his children, Linda Wakefield of Fairview; his daughters, Sara Saenz and husband David of Fairview, Heidi Evans of Fairview; son, Joseph Deskin and wife Holly of Osan AB, S. Korea; and is also survived by his three grandchildren; Ariel Evans, Joshua Evans, and Birdie Deskin. He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, George and Bessie Deskin Busselman; his birth parents, James and Martha Deskin; brothers, Carval, James "Buddy", Charles “Dickie”, Clarence "Charlie", identical twin Alton, and sister, Martha Lee.
Allen often said that the best thing in life was hard work and as a country-dweller he conquered many trades in his 82 years. He was a barn builder, plumber, electrician, rancher, mechanic, and produce peddler, but was most proud of his years spent farming watermelons and peanuts, as his father had before him.
Allen was well known for his quiet demeanor and steadfast integrity. His pastimes included gardening, exploring Texas backroads, and raising animals. Mostly he is remembered for his love of family. Those closest to him knew that his stoic exterior quickly softened to a clever storyteller and always made time for those in need. Allen Ross Deskin lived a life filled with the joy of honest hard work and caring for family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
At Allen’s request, there will be a small candlelight interment of ashes ceremony for immediate family members in Fairview.
