Bo was preceded by his character more than his words. He loved travel and continually sought opportunities to improve the standards and conditions of others wherever he could. As Sweden’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, tradition demanded that servants wear white gloves and not just bow, but stoop - head to floor when addressing their employers. Bo refused to continue this colonial practice. No more gloves; no more bowing.

Bo’s best gift to me is our son Erik. Bo’s best favor to me was when I asked him, soon after we arrived in Stockholm, how I could best support him and his career? He answered, “Babsie, learn Swedish.” His request - although a great challenge - paid dividends.

He relished his position at the embassy and although Washington, DC was no NYC, we had Georgetown. I regret the night Bo, Jan Eliason and Björn Elmer serenaded me from curbside. Sadly, I wasn’t at home; my neighbors, however, enjoyed the trio.

Eager to share his hometown, Eksjö, its countryside and wildlife - we often visited Småland. And, Ingrid, his mother, graciously taught me to prepare his favorite dishes. No matter how far Bosse roamed… his Småland - always near to heart. Fondly remembered…
