It was Spring Break, high school senior year. We (Tommy, Lance, Greg, Dave) were going to spend the week skiing. But we were having a very dry winter and the ski areas had very marginal snow with warmer temperatures projected. No Problem.
We decided to go above Dillon and camp for the week instead. Fish for trout, play poker, do the Colorado "guy" thing.
We set up camp, had a fire, drank, uh, soft drinks, you know, carbonated canned drinks, and talked about the fish we would terrorize the next day.
We slept in. But man, it was cold in the morning. Opened the tent flap to view the gorgeous scenery - which was now buried in two feet of snow.
We lasted three days. Mainly in the tent playing poker. Looking back on it, we had a great time. Lots of laughing. Lots of cheating at cards. But we lasted only three days. How we held out for that long I'll never know.
But I will never forget it. Being with friends and hanging out with my forever best friend, Tommy Bobby Joe Woznick - "Woz."
