From the bottom of my heart, I think Jo and all of you who have commented here for your beautiful stories and memories. He talked about many of you so unknowingly, to me you are household names. It certainly helps me and his parents, Gertrud & Timm, and his only brother, Stefan and his wife, Ina who tragically and traumatically was the one who found him sleeping peacefully last Tuesday morning.

I met Alex only in 2015 in Singapore when seeing this good looking gentle man at the bar of Brotzeit Raffles City, I was compelled to do something I’ve never ever done in my life: walked up and gave him my number on a napkin. Classy I know. He thought I was a hooker but being Alex was charm itself. And that was it. I always felt divine intervention brought us together.

I read here about how welcoming, dynamic and fun Alex was and he was just the same as a partner. He made my world come alive with warmth and energy. He also had a very quiet introspective side, needed time alone and together we just had the most mature and fulfilling togetherness anyone could have. We were one person.

You know he really did love people and language was a huge part of that. He worked so hard to learn Bahasa Indonesian before arriving there only to find out that Jakarta has its own form of the language and he didn’t understand a word
