African Union Chairperson, His Excellency, Moussa Faki Mahamat says the death of Zambia’s First President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda is an indescribable loss not only to Zambia but the entire continent.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia,and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Mr. Emmanuel Mwamba confirmed that the AU Chairperson and other African Ambassadors accredited to the African Union have poured their messages of condolences on the death of President Kaunda who is also a founding member of the African Union.

Algerian Ambassador to the African Union, Elhamdi Salah said President Kaunda’s rich legacy of fighting for African liberation will be respected by all Africans.

DRC’s Ambassador Jean-Leon Ngandu Ilunga described Dr. Kaunda as a baobab heroic pan Africanist who achieved a lot not only for Zambia but Africa as a whole.

Egypt’s’ Ahmed Abeu Zeid said Dr. Kaunda was a hero who would feature permanently in in the history and liberalization of Africa

Namibia’s Emilia Mkusa said Dr. Kaunda will be fondly missed by the people of Namibia who will never forget the immerse sacrifice that Zambia made for the liberation of Southern Africa.

Uganda’s Rabbeca Otengo said the death of Zambia’s First President was a loss to the entire continent.

Rwanda’s Hope Tumukunde Gasatura said Dr. Kenneth Kaunda’s legacy will continue to leave on.

Amb. Arouch Mohammed of Morocco said Dr. Kaunda was a great pan-africanist while Amb. Promise Msibi of Swaziland said the were in great shock to learn the passing on of Dr. Kaunda but stated his works and contributions to Africa will be remembered way beyond his life.

Several messages of condolences are still pouring in at the Zambia Embassy in Ethiopia.

During this year's Africa Freedom Day, the African Union recognized Dr. Kaunda with a distinguished award for the role he played and the immense contribution he made to the liberation of Africa and its people.
