Willow Kelly's Album: Wall Photos

Photo 1 of 9 in Wall Photos

During one of the countless conversations, we had on our cross-country road trip in 2013 from California to Virginia (she was driving, of course – she loved to drive!) she paused for a bit with something on her mind. She finally said, “Did you know that your dad sent me text about 3 or 4 months after he died?” I wasn’t sure I heard her correctly and slowly said, “Noooooooooo,” as more of a question than an answer. “Well, he did. He said, 'Everything here is good.'" Then she told me about a day years before. She hardly ever left Dad’s side after his stroke in 1994, he died in 2012 and my mom was steadfast and wildly in love with him until the end. She didn’t want to leave him in case anything happened, or he needed her, but on one rare occasion she left home to go to a UM conference of some kind that was close enough that she could drive there, attend the conference and drive home in the same day. While she was at this conference, Dad sent her that text to reassure her it was okay to relax and enjoy herself. Everything here is good. She said a few months after he died, she received the same message from his as a new text. Everything here is good. She showed it to my oldest brother, Mike who confirmed that indeed the date sent was long after Dad died. I hope she texts me, too.
