This was one of the happiest days we shared with Dad, when we surprised him with a huge party to celebrate his 80th birthday and retirement from over 35 years at GWU. Looking back, it was Divine Timing that we had this joint gathering of both sides of the Velasquez and Pernia families, as it was the last time we saw each other before the pandemic. Dad loved being around his large family and he was humbled and overwhelmed that day. One of the best memories I’ll have.
