From an Official Notice: In Memory of Diane Finley – Founder of The St. Louis Children’s Choirs
Leaving a legacy of the transforming power of music, Diane Finley, founder of The St. Louis Children’s Choirs in 1978, passed away in Princeton, NJ this past May. Her vision was to create a children’s choir that would one day perform with the St. Louis Symphony. This dream was realized in 1988, and the commitment to musical excellence, teamwork with kindness, and inclusivity that she inspired exists to this day.

In 2018, Diane attended the 40th anniversary concert of The St. Louis Children’s Choirs, where she was honored with a standing ovation in gratitude for her outstanding contribution to the St. Louis community. Over 80 alumni from around the country returned to sing together at Powell Hall. It was thrilling for Diane to visit with many of her former students and to get to know current young artists in the program.

Diane will be remembered as a dedicated teacher whose positive impact touched the lives of many generations of young people. She will continue to be an inspiration for her love of music, love of young people and her positive conviction in seeing everyone in their best light.

With love,
Barbara Berner
