i first met Bettie is BSF and was honored to know her for many years. I have memories of going to see a March madness game with her, of getting See’s candy from her at Christmas time, of hearing harrowing stories from their days in Cairo, of her love for golf and how Jesus grabbed a hold of her heart and reset her priorities. Bettie was one who always tried to do the right thing. If she knew what she was supposed to do, she did it. She had a hard time understanding those who didn’t or wouldn’t. She made me feel special and encouraged by sitting next to me at our Sat leaders meetings, and by driving a distance to see me and do a sleepover when I had a summer work trip to Minnesota. She was generous with her love and her money. She was my favorite octogenarian and then nonagenarian. While I miss her in the here and now, I look forward to being reunited one day at the feet of our Savior, praising him together for all eternity. I’m pretty sure when I first see her, she’ll offer me some chocolate!
