Tribute from Hema Karve, family friend:

My name is Hema Karve, I have known Manda (and all the family) since 1956, when all of us lived in Mombasa.

For quite a few years we lived opposite each other in the grounds of PANDYA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL. Over the years the friendship continued and I stayed with both of them many times IN TORONTO.

But my memory of Manda is most vivid as a happy person always ready to partake in any occasion in all the activities of 'Mombasa Maharashtra Mandal'. Unfortunately, I don’t have many photos of our gatherings, but I have movies taken by my husband Madhav. Manda is there in the forefront, playing ‘tug-of –war’, blindfold ‘tail the donkey’, and playing ‘'Marathi game of Kho—Kho.

Her energy and enthusiasm for every day life and learning new things was legendary. I could go on and on, but this are just few words about a good friend, wonderful human being, wife/mother/grandma/great grandmother; but best of all a credit to women all over.

With all the best wishes and love,
Hema
