June Renee Anderson, 92, died peacefully on May 26, 2022, in the loving comfort of her family and friends. She was born in Wilmar, California, on March 11, 1930, to Cecil Ernest and O’Leta Dorothy (Haskell) Ellis. She relocated to Hawaii in 1959 and earned her CPS (Certified Professional Secretary) credentials while working at Tori Richards Manufacturing in Honolulu. She later took a position as executive secretary to the president of E.E. Black, Ltd. June eventually shifted careers in 1969 to become a highly respected Gold Coast realtor, work in which she remained active until just a few years before her passing.
June’s involvement in the community reflected her interests in youth, education, health, and the performing arts. A long-time member of Central Union Church, June sang in the choir. She volunteered weekly at the information desk in the front lobby of Queen’s Medical Center for over 50 years. In 2018, she received recognition from the Governor of Hawaii for her dedicated service. June served on several boards throughout her professional career, namely Kapiolani Community College, Queen’s Hospital, Diamond Head Apartments, and the Outrigger Canoe Club, and was an active member of the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization). She enjoyed reading, traveling, and the arts, particularly the Honolulu Opera Theater.
June always felt blessed with an extraordinary life, good friends, and a loving family. June was predeceased by husbands Paul Anderson, 1993, and William W. Holzwarth, 2002, stepson David (survived by wife Bodil) Anderson, 2021, nephew Brian Nicholson, 2013, and granddaughter Maile Anderson,1985.
June is survived by two sisters, Kay Nicholson and Judy (husband Tom) Spear, three nieces, Nancy Nicholson, Krista Spear, and Amanda (husband Jeremy) Hardiman, two grandnieces Sorcha Hardiman and Olivia Nicholson, two grandnephews Becket Hardiman and Jasper Riggs. She is survived by her stepchildren Bill (wife Jocelyn) Holzwarth, Clint (wife Joji) Holzwarth, and David (wife Allison Stephens) Holzwarth, her grandchildren Malia (Joe) Vandervoort, Michael Anderson, Winifred Holzwarth, and Zachariah Holzwarth, and her great-grandchildren Hans Vandervoort, Vanessa Vandervort, and Davey Anderson.
On November 19, 2022, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Outrigger Canoe Club, there will be a remembrance ceremony and spreading of the ashes led by Punahou School Chaplin George Scott.
