Phyllis Joyce Jackson was born on December 3, 1936 in Beiber, California to William Lloyd Johns and Jewell Josephine Johns and passed peacefully from this world to the next on April 3, 2020. She is survived by her sisters Verna Louise Whitten, Mary Annah Morse and brother William Lloyd Johns, Jr. She is also survived by her brother-in-laws Joseph Whitten, Jon Frederick Morse, Sr. and her sister-in-law Barbara Weaver Johns. Phyllis had no children of her own but was dearly loved by many nieces and nephews.
At a young age, Phyllis and her sister Verna lost their mother. They moved to Livingston, California with their father. After their father married Nova Austin, they moved to Merced and Phyllis lived there until her senior year in high school when the family moved to Madera, California. After her graduation she went to work at Bank of America and worked there until she married Harley Jackson and they moved to Sacramento where Harley had recently secured a job. During their 51 years of marriage, Phyllis worked as a Secretary/Bookkeeper with different companies. She was very efficient and well-loved at every company which she was employed. (see letter of recognition & news article). Together she and Harley built 2 homes and sold the last one to retire. They purchased a trailer and began traveling around the country. Their travels took them to almost all the states and they met and made friends of many couples around the country. Around 2000 they settled at an RV park (Park of the Sierras) in Coarsegold, California. After Harley’s death in 2007, Phyllis moved to an apartment in Fresno. Due to her needs for part time care, she recently moved into a retirement facility in Fresno. She passed peacefully after complications from a broken hip.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Harley Ervin Jackson and her sister Sandra Kay Brawner.
